This August marks eight decades since Gerry Coady first opened the doors of Caringbah's very first pharmacy. We wanted to take a moment to mark it - and to thank the families who've made it possible.

On the 2nd of August, 1946, a young pharmacist named Gerry Coady opened a small shop on Caringbah's main strip, the suburb's very first chemist.

He delivered prescriptions on a Lambretta motor scooter. He bred prize-winning poultry on the side. He raised six children, and trained a generation of apprentices who went on to open pharmacies of their own.

Eighty years later, the pharmacy is still here. Still independent. Still on the same corner of the Sutherland Shire.

A quiet milestone, two ways.

We're marking the occasion internally on Saturday 1 August: eight decades, almost to the day. It's also a chance to formally celebrate our move to 90C Cawarra Rd. The relocation happened back in April last year and somehow there was never quite the right moment to mark it; this August feels like a fitting time to combine both.

The team raising a quiet glass to eighty years of family pharmacy in Caringbah, and to the families who've made it possible.

A small note on the name change.

You may have noticed we've refreshed our look, same pharmacy, same people, new name. Caringbah North Pharmacy reflects where we are today: a modern community pharmacy continuing the legacy Gerry started in 1946.

The Coady family chapter is woven into everything we do, and you'll still hear plenty of people call us Coady's. The new name is simply the next page in a much longer story.

Thank you.

To everyone who's walked through our doors over the past eight decades, the regulars whose names we know, the families who've trusted us with three generations of prescriptions, the apprentices and pharmacists who've stood behind our counter, thank you. The pharmacy is what it is because of you. Here's to the next chapter.
